Meet Todd Martin
Volvo Account Manager, Central North Island
Todd Martin has seen the commitment that runs through the MTD sales and aftersales care process first-hand after carrying out a wide range of roles within the Group. “I’ve been on the roadside fixing trucks, worked in the Mod Centre and covered the office and sales roles. Over the years I’ve been involved in everything that leads up to the moment when you hand over the completed unit to each customer.
Having always had an interest in trucks and transport, Todd started a Heavy Diesel apprenticeship with Truckstops at the age of 20 and spent five years working on a range of trucks. After an OE and some experience truck driving Todd then returned to MTD to work in the New Truck Modification Centre followed by a move into the office in a sales support and logistics role before moving into the sales team.
“The MTD team has a great culture and really great, quality people – their attention to detail and customer care is outstanding. When I started in the office and sales, I had some fantastic mentors and role models to learn from who were knowledgeable and passionate about our brands, customers and the transport industry in general”
Getting out and about and building customer relationships has been important for Todd. “Volvo is a great product, a truck I really believe in. Having a family, Volvo focus on safety is a big one for me. So is knowing that the brand rates really highly from a total cost of ownership perspective with customised specifications to ensure best use of technology and driver comfort.
“I feel a sense of pride that we sell premium, reliable trucks set up to do the job we build them for. Having an Australian production facility means that our team gets to provide feedback directly to the factory – which ensures our trucks are uniquely suited to the New Zealand roads and market. New Zealand-specific customisation is key. When you sell the Volvo brand, you can go about your business with your head held high. It’s a market leader in so many areas.”
