Meet Paul France, National Sales Manager for Volvo Truck & Bus. Paul’s background is grounded in the heavy machinery and automotive sales and he got off to an early start watching his father working in and around agricultural machinery in the UK.
After leaving school, Paul headed straight into automotive sales with Holden before a stint owning his own business in the construction industry providing commercial fit outs. It wasn’t long before he was drawn back into machinery, selling Hyster forklifts in the UK before accepting the role of Sales and Marketing manager for Goughs Forklifts in New Zealand. With the strong cross-over between the civil, contracting and transport industries, many of Paul’s customers today had their first dealings with him 16 years ago.
Paul’s experience selling the Volvo brand began when he was appointed as Business Unit Manager for Titan Plant Services’ Construction and Roading Equipment division. Brought in to launch the division, Paul led a successful new team selling Volvo heavy machinery including paving machines, rollers, loaders, and graders.
After a period spent working in sales and marketing across the agricultural and contracting industries, Paul was drawn back to the Volvo brand. “I’ve always been attracted to the strength of the Volvo brand, particularly its core values of safety and quality,” he said. “I’m fortunate to work with an experienced, commercially mature Volvo sales team. They really know the value of great customer relationships.
“The Volvo brand, backed by MTD, has always offered a strong commitment to the New Zealand trucking industry. The infrastructure in place to deliver the best performance from each Volvo truck is unique - from specification and customisation through to sales, driver and product training, and aftersales support. The true value of a Volvo proves itself over the lifetime of the truck - there’s really no other brand like it on the market.”
