VISTA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 IS ALL GO

Volvo Trucks has announced that New Zealand registrations are now open for the VISTA World Championship 2022.
Teams from Truckstops Whangarei & Invercargill made it to the semi finals in 2018

VISTA (Volvo International Service Training Award) is an international competition open to all Service Market professionals within the global service network of Volvo Trucks and Buses. According to Volvo Trucks, it is the world’s biggest competition for Service Market personnel.

Made up of teams of four, the competition is open to eligible team members within New Zealand’s authorised Volvo Service Centres. Team members include technicians, service advisors and non-managing workshop and parts staff.

The heats start on January 26 with the first of two qualifying rounds focused on theoretical questions covering Volvo information sources, Volvo branding and basic knowledge.  There is also a ‘Pitstop’ component based on a timed e-learning challenge. A set of ‘Missions’ has been introduced for the first time in the 2022 championship. Missions will cover areas such as electromobility, health and safety, sustainability, innovation, parts logistics, and team building – all of which contribute to an overall points total for each team.

In June 2022, the top two workshops from New Zealand will compete in a digital semi-final against the top four Australian workshops. The winning team will then move into the finals held in Sweden in September.

Fergus Lusty, New Zealand’s National Technical Services & Standards Manager for Volvo Truck & Bus, commented: “The VISTA competition provides a unique opportunity to upskill our Volvo Trucks’ service network in a fun, productive and efficient way. The competition covers a wide range of relevant knowledge and ensures that participants are exposed to areas that they may not encounter day-to-day in the workshop.”

Volvo Trucks nationwide after-sales support partner Truckstops will be a major player in the New Zealand competition, looking to build on the success of its Whangarei & Invercargill branches. Both branches qualified for the Semi Finals in the 2018/2019 competition (2019/2020 competition was cancelled due to COVID-19).
