Volvo Trucks New Zealand unveils new low-horsepower 13-litre engine range.

A new range of horsepower ratings for Volvo’s popular Euro 6, 13-litre engine platform has been announced for the brand’s versatile FM and FMX range. With power options now ranging from 380hp and 1850Nm to 420hp and 2100Nm as well as a 460hp/2300Nm variant, the new range is designed to provide robust and efficient powertrain options across a range of transport applications.

A new range of horsepower ratings for Volvo’s popular Euro 6, 13-litre engine platform has been announced for the brand’s versatile FM and FMX range.

With power options now ranging from 380hp and 1850Nm to 420hp and 2100Nm as well as a 460hp/2300Nm variant, the new range is designed to provide robust and efficient powertrain options across a range of transport applications.

The arrival of the low horsepower range introduces increased torque across a broader, lower rpm torque band. Peak torque starts at 905Nm and stretches to 1400Nm across the three new variants. The new engine variants also feature improved engine brake performance with power braking power increased 70Kw over comparable 11-litre variants.

The FM and the FMX are used across New Zealand in multiple industries and sectors from bulk liquid transport, regional transport, waste and recycling to construction, mining, agriculture, and quarry transport applications.

The Volvo FM and FMX are available in New Zealand with five different cab variants, ranging from day cab (low and high), to sleeper (low and high), and the popular Globetrotter.
