Trucks

Long-standing Volvo Truck NZ customer, the Aitken family of Temuka Transport has been named among the 2019 Volvo Visionaries.  These awards were created to celebrate, thank and honour the extraordinary and the visionary among the Volvo community.

The story of Temuka Transport is an uplifting one.  From a humble start in 1967, when Rowdy and Margaret first bought into the business, described by Margaret as ‘a fallen down shed and 18 trucks – half of them on blocks’ to the business as it has become today.  Temuka Transport is currently one of New Zealand’s largest transport and logistics operations, comprising four companies, 220 employees and a fleet of over 100 trucks.

The Aitkin family’s contribution to their community has been recognised in the form of a Queen’s Service Medal for Rowdy in 2008 and a Mayor’s award for the whole family in 2016.  More than 50 years on and still going strong - well done Rowdy, Margaret, Gutsy, Slim and Brendan.
