Trucks

National Fleet Manager

National Fleet Sales Manager, Blair Stapleton understands that the team at Volvo Trucks NZ don’t just sell trucks, they provide customers with a premium, reliable transport solution.

Blair has been around heavy machinery his whole life. He grew up on his father’s sheep and beef farm in northern Waikato, where it’s normal for youngsters to be in and around tractors. This rural background, plus Blair’s natural ability to form great relationships with people, led him to a career in the transport industry. Blair started out selling forklifts at age 21 before moving to Australia to drive trucks in the mines. He then started a business taking used Toyota Landcruisers from the Outback and breaking them down to export parts to Dubai.

After a few successful years, Blair headed home to start a family in New Zealand and got a job with Cable Price. This is where his trucking journey really began. Following eight years working in heavy truck sales, Blair joined the Volvo team in January 2023.

He commented: “I enjoy working with the Volvo NZ team. There’s no pecking order, and everyone is friendly and approachable.”

Blair sees his role as being more than selling premium trucks: “You can’t sell trucks the way you’d sell a car. Our job is to provide a business solution. When customers are making a significant investment in their fleets, you’re not just a salesperson, you’re a trusted advisor. It’s vital that we recommend the right truck for their application.”

Outside of work, you’ll find Blair spending time with his family on Auckland’s North Shore or out in the great outdoors, hunting and fishing.
