Trucks

Volvo Key Account Manager, Auckland

Dwayne has always been interested in the big gear that is a Volvo truck. Talking specifications and modifications is second nature, thanks to his transport industry background. After leaving school, Dwayne started a career building motorhomes before moving into truck bodies. As a qualified Coach Builder, he’s built anything and everything that goes on the back of a cab chassis – from curtain siders to tippers.

A strong working relationship with the late John Campbell (National Sales Manager), led Dwyane to a two-year stint with UD Trucks which was the bridge to a career in truck sales. Prior to joining the Volvo Trucks team, Dwayne worked for some big transport industry names including Countdown logistics, and Mercedes Benz. His most recent role was as a Business Development Manager for Hyundai NZ.

“When customers talk to me about what they’re looking for in a Volvo truck, my hands-on experience and mechanical knowledge enable me to ask the right questions and suggest the best solutions.

“Over the years I’ve become adept at quickly building rapport with people, and being able to identify when something in a customer’s plan isn’t going to work in practice.”

After meeting his now wife Dani, Dwayne headed off on a two-year OE back to her native Brazil. Ever adaptable, Dwayne retrained and started teaching English to employees of Brazilian businesses via Skype. His love of Brazilian culture has persisted, and Dwayne regularly plays the drums in a Samba band – and once a year they head to Wellington to take part in the famous CubaDuba street festival.
